The release of the book Cannabis - The Power of Natural Healing: Cannabis - The Power of Natural Healing marks a new chapter in the discussion about the medicinal use of cannabis, by combining science, real experiences, and the practical experience of those directly involved in the development of the regulated sector. Available in eBook Kindle format, the work is authored by Sérgio Neto and Alesia Andrei and proposes an approach that goes beyond ideological debate, positioning cannabis as a legitimate tool for health, innovation, and economic development.
Currently a business consultant, Sérgio Neto has been collaborating since 2022 with companies seeking to structure and streamline licensing processes with Infarmed - National Authority of Medicines and Health Products. With a background in Computer Management, the author began his work in the sector in 2018, after the approval of Portuguese legislation regulating cannabis for medicinal purposes, a period in which Portugal began to stand out on the international stage.
The motivation to enter this market arose from a significant personal experience: accompanying his grandmother in the fight against acute myeloid leukemia. This experience sparked an interest in the therapeutic potential of cannabis and drove a journey that, over the years, included direct contact with hundreds of children and adults, in cases where cannabis proved decisive for improving quality of life and, in some contexts, for full recovery.
The book features accounts of patients with epilepsy, rare syndromes, oncological conditions, sleep disorders, anxiety, and depression, always contextualized by scientific explanations about the endocannabinoid system and the importance of quality pharmaceutical standards. At the same time, it highlights the role of regulation as an essential element for patient safety and market consolidation.
By positioning Portugal as a strategic hub for the production, innovation, and export of medicinal cannabis, the work reinforces that the plant, when integrated with science, law, and the formal economy, ceases to be taboo and begins to represent a sustainable, modern, and highly socially impactful sector.
